This year the international dance festival \u201cNew Baltic Dance\u201d for the 23rd<\/sup> time gathers contemporary dancers from all over the world in Vilnius, Lithuania. The 2019 program features 22 performances and the launch of the Baltic Dance Platform with the aim of representing the contemporary dance of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The Baltic Dance Platform aims to promote networking and collaborations between contemporary dance artists and different institutions, spread information, urge the realization of joint projects, and develop possibilities for educational activities.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this year’s festival the Baltic Dance Platform will present seven performances. \u0160eiko Dance Company (Lithuania) in a collaboration with the internationally acknowledged dance company from\u00a0Denmark Granh\u00f8j Dans will present the premiere \u201cBol\u00e9ro-Extended\u201d. Lithuanian company \u201cAura\u201d premiere the new piece \u201cKaunas Zoo\u201d by awarded choreographer Birute Letukaite. \u201c22nd Internationales Solo \u2013 Tanz Festival Stuttgart\u201d prize winner, young generation artists Lukas Karvelis (Lithuania) will debut with his solo work \u201cBlank Spots\u201d. Agate Bankava and Andris Kacanovskis (Latvia) \u201cFuture Freak\u201d, Sintija Silina (Latvia) \u201cBedre \/ Rock Bottom\u201d will be shown during the Baltics weekend. First time collaboration, featuring Estonian dancers Joanna Kalm, Karolin Poska, Sigrid Savi, Joonas Tagel and Swedish actress Salla Loper will present \u201cFluids\u201d and Sigrid Savi show \u201cImagine There\u2019s a Fish\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very excited that Lithuanian Dance Information Centre starts the very first Baltic Dance Platform. Alongside the main performance events at the program of the festival New Baltic Dance, there will be pitch sessions and special meetings with the artists from all three Baltic countries. Baltic Dance Platform will host around 60 international experts and producers from France, China, Spain, Israel, Sweden, Hungary, USA and many others in Vilnius. The Platform will present independent Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian dance artists and dance theatres, who are exploring the boundaries of choreography, movement, artistic approaches and socio-critical voices,\u201d – coordinator of Baltic Dance Platform Ingrida Gerbutaviciute.

The first pilot Baltic Dance Platform on May 9-11, 2019 in Vilnius during the XXIII international contemporary dance festival New Baltic Dance is organized by Lithuanian Dance Information Centre, in cooperation with Lithuanian Culture Institute and Lithuanian Cultural Attach\u00e9s, and in cooperation with Latvian Dance Information Center and S\u00f5ltumatu Tantsu Lava \/ STL (Estonia).
